PATHWAY TO THE FUTURE

The National Certificate in Maritime (Commercial Inshore Vessel Operations) recognises the skills and competencies required for the operations of an inshore vessel.

Most training wil be conducted in the workplace. It wil provide the student with knowledge in marine engineering, seamanship and navigation skills, operating a radar and radio, and how to maintain the sea safety of the vessel and its personnel including the sea survival functions of distress response and first aid.

QUALIFICATION

On successful completion of this CIVO certificate programme you will receive the:

  • National Certificate in Maritime (Commercial Inshore Vessel Operations)
  • First Aid Certificate
  • Plus a host of Maritime Unit Standards

Once your enrolment has been processed and should you wish to participate, you will receive a complementary voucher booklet detailing your free enrolment onto auxiliary certificate courses:

  • RYA Diesel Maintenance
  • RYA Powerboat Level 2
  • RYA Radar
  • MROC Radio Operators
  • STCW Basic First Aid
  • STCW Basic Sea Survival
  • STCW Personal Safety and Social Responsibilities (PSSR)
  • STCW Basic Firefighting

Please note there are terms and conditions associated with the above auxiliary certificate courses e.g. Certificates will not be issues to students who have no completed the whole CIVO programme.

National Certificate in Maritime - Commercial Inshore Vessel Operations

CROSS CREDITING

There is a rigorous cross credit programme to ensure recognition of any current competencies i.e. if a student holds a current First Aid Certificate they may not be required to do it again, however, they must supply and copy as proof.

DURATION

12 months to complete from month of enrolment.

ENTRY REQUIREMENTS

Restricted to those 18 years and older. A nautical background is preferable.

MEDICAL REQUIREMENTS

The Complementary auxiliary STCW basic training courses require students to have a medical certificate (at the students cost) prior to their acceptance. Please phone the MTI Maritime Department for verification of all such requirements.
